Part 5 - Driftveil & Mistralton City
Driftveil City
Trainers Pokemon: Pokemon Trainer (Herdier LV27, Swoobat LV27), Motorcyclist (Triple Battle (B2) / Rotation Battle (W2) - Tirtouga LV26, Sigilyph LV26, Archen LV26)
Items: Ultra Ball, Shell Bell, Big Root, Air Balloon, TM63 (Embargo), Expert Belt^, Heart Scale#, Everstone, Haban Berry
^ - Must show Pokemon at Level 30 or higher
# - Need to show a Pokemon with a certain move, this can be done everyday
Go on the small mini bridge after crossing the Drawbridge to find Team Plasma again. The Grunt appears to push another person who appears to have been from Team Plasma. The truth of the matter is he was but decided to quit Team Plasma because he was one of the few that figured out what he was doing was wrong. Hugh comes flying from nowhere and pushes the Grunt currently in Team Plasma away (right after you barely dodge him), the Grunt runs off with Hugh in hot pursuit. The Ex-Team Plasma Grunt reveals that Ghetsis is leading the charge in their plans to take over Unova. The Ex-Grunt tells you of his location to hear the rest of the story (next to the Driftveil Gym). Heal up and do so. The place he is referring to is on the north end of town.
Come up to the place to have the Ex-Grunt find you. He will bring you to Rood, another Ex-member of Team Plasma that was involved in their plans two years ago. Rood would like to ask a Pokemon Battle of you. Accept it to initiate the battle and defeat him. Hugh will fly in saying that the Grunt he was chasing got away. Rood allows Hugh to come inside with you.
Hugh starts blasting questions. A bunch of apologies happen about having the Pokemon they are now taking care of separated - or stolen - from their trainers. The former members of Team Plasma are trying to make up for many of their crimes (for lack of a better term) by taking care of those Pokemon. Hugh nearly loses it, even going as far as yelling for Purrloin. Rood reveals that the Pokemon is not inside with them among the Pokemon they have. He believes that Pokemon is still being used by Team Plasma somewhere. Hugh runs off to the gym with the desire to crush Team Plasma. Rood asks you to take care of a Zorua that is next to him the entire time you have been inside. Answer yes. If you have room, it will join your party at Level 25. If you don't have room, you will be allowed to go to a computer inside the Center to deposit a Pokemon and then come back to take it. It will be a nice addition to your party as since it is not owned by you, it will gain 1-1/2 times the experience points and is a strong Pokemon itself of the Dark-type especially when it evolves. You find out this is the Zorua that N - the former leader of Team Plasma - used as a friend during his childhood. Exit the building.
The man inside the northwest building is a Move Tutor that loves Red Shards. You can trade the Red Shards to teach your Pokemon moves. Their cost can range from anywhere from 2-10 shards. He can teach you Covet, Bug Bite, Drill Run, Bounce, Signal Beam, Iron Head, Super Fang, Uproar, Seed Bomb, Dual Chop, Low Kick, Gunk Shot, Fire Punch, Ice Punch and Thunderpunch.
Explore the rest of Driftveil City to pick up items all over town. Check all the floors too. Don't forget to check out the Driftveil Market to find some items you will not find anywhere else like Moomoo Milk. You will notice that the entrance to Clay Tunnel is blocked off - once again until after you defeat the Elite Four. It is named as such because Clay is the one managing the construction - and is also the Gym Leader of Driftveil.
You can head out to Route 6 to the northwest to train if you want, when you are finished, challenge the Driftveil Gym and the Gym Leader Clay, master of the Ground-type - it is in the northeast corner of town. If you tried to challenge it before the Team Plasma event, you need to do that first or the Guide will block the Gym.
Hugh will appear in-front of the Gym but he will not do anything - yet. Go inside.
Driftveil Gym
Trainers Pokemon: Worker (Baltoy LV31), Worker (Drilbur LV29, Baltoy LV29, Sandile LV29), Worker (Sandile LV31), Worker (Drilbur LV31), Worker (Drilbur LV30, Baltoy LV30), Worker (Sandile LV30, Drilbur LV30), Worker (Baltoy LV30, Sandile LV30)
Items: Fresh Water, TM78 (Bulldoze)
Hit the switch on the gray platform to go down. Go up the stairs and find the Guide. Talk to him to receive your Fresh Water. Go down the stairs to your left to get started on the puzzle.
It is pitch black when you first enter. You will light it up for each platform you step on.
The quickest way to get there is Up, Battle the Trainer, Right, Down, Right, Battle the Trainer, Up, Up, Up, Right, Down, Right, Up. If you want, there are 5 other trainers you can battle at dead ends. When you reach the platform Clay is on, challenge him to a Gym Battle.
GYM LEADER BATTLE: CLAY
Krokorok - Level 31
Sandslash - Level 31
Excadrill - Level 33
All of his Pokemon are in their final evolutuion stages, it is a strong team. He will lead off with Krokorok - the evolved form of Sandile. Dispatch him with Water/Grass/Ice-type moves. He is also a Dark-type, so Bug/Fighting-type attacks work there as well. Knockout Sandslash the same way with Water/Grass/Ice-type moves. Excadrill is his ace in the hole. It is a combo Ground/Steel-type. making most attacks inflict small damage. The good thing about Steel-types is that they are weak to Fire-types but be aware that Fire-types are weak to Ground-type attacks. Water & Fighting-type moves work as well. If you don't have a Water Pokemon yet, this will be a long battle with Excadrill, but its good Ground-type Pokemon have many weaknesses, and the dual-typing on some of those help as well.
Defeating Clay will earn you the Quake Badge. With it, all Pokemon up to Level 60 will obey you. He will also hand you TM78 (Bulldoze) - his signature move.
Clay will take you up his platform back to the entrance and then Clay will exit the Gym. Follow him.
Driftveil City
Hugh will notice you coming out and notice the Quake Badge in your possession. Clay walks up and figures out that you know each other. Hugh bolts out a question as to why he has forgiven Team Plasma with an answer of there's always room for change. Hugh does not seem to listen to that. Clay mentions the new Pokemon World Tournament that is at the south of town. Hugh runs off - again - to train. You go to the Pokemon World Tournament - or PWT for short. First heal up, then exit the town south to the PWT - if you know where the Cold Storage was before, that no longer exists. The PWT is in its place. This place was blocked off up until you have defeated Clay.
Pokemon World Tournament
Items: Ether, PP Up, Zinc, Rocky Helmet
Go south then follow the path east. When you get close enough, you will be in auto-mode and it will finish walking up to Hugh and Clay. The camera pans to the PWT building allowing Clay to describe the PWT. You and Hugh will follow Clay inside and meet up with Cheren. Clay will enter the three of you into the "Driftveil Tournament". Cheren seems irritated about being interrupted into doing this but registers anyways. Hugh does the same. You follow suit. Talk to the Green person to register and enter the Tournament. You have only one choice for now (Driftveil Tournament) so enter in that Tournament. Next, choose the three Pokemon you want to battle with. Make your choices wisely. One I would choose is one that knows a Fighting-type move, you will use that move often in the three battles. A Fire-type move would not be a bad idea either. Then I would choose your best fighter regardless of type. The choices are up to you though. Be aware when choosing your Pokemon to allow it to hold an item - and that item cannot be the same among the Pokemon chosen. You will not be able to use items from your bag during the three battles. When you have chosen your Pokemon, advance on in.
Your first battle will pit you and Hugh. All of your opponents' Pokemon will be at Level 25 - deliberately weak to allow you to win the Tournament it appears. You will not gain experience or prize money for winning these battles. Your Pokemon will be healed after each battle. For the first time since WAY back at the Ranch, you will battle your Rival....
DRIFTVEIL TOURNAMENT - ROUND 1: HUGH /
RIVAL BATTLE 3:
If you choose Snivy - Pignite Level 25, Simipour Level 25
If you choose Tepig - Dewott Level 25, Simisage Level 25
If you choose Oshawott - Servine Level 25, Simisear Level 25
Other Pokemon he will have regardless of choice - Tranquill Level 25
Obviously a lot of changes since your last battle with Hugh when he just had his starter at Level 8. He has obtained one of the elemental monkeys which is dependent on your starter - it will be the type that your starter is stronger against - in its evolved state. He has also added a Tranquill to his party and his starter - as you saw in the Castelia Sewers - has evolved. Hopefully you chose a Pokemon that backs up your starters weakness and you have it and your starter chosen. Use your starter's advantage on the elemental monkey. Tranquill should not pose a threat especially if you still have all three of your Pokemon standing when you get to it.
Defeating your rival will advance you to the second round where you will meet up with the Asperita City Gym Leader Cheren again.
DRIFTVEIL TOURNAMENT - ROUND 2: CHEREN
Stoutland - Level 25
Cinccino - Level 25
Watchog - Level 25
As you would expect from Cheren as being the holder of the Basic Badge, his Pokemon are all Normal-type. The Fighting-type move I advise you to choose will get you through this round, use it until you cannot anymore. If your Fighting-type Pokemon faints, you should have enough of an advantage to take the rest of his team out.
Defeating Cheren will get you to the finals, where you will find Colress - who helped you out at Route 4 - to battle for the Championship.
DRIFTVEIL TOURNAMENT - FINAL ROUND: COLRESS /
COLRESS BATTLE 2:
Magneton - Level 25
Elgyem - Level 25
Klink - Level 25
Here's another reason to bring the Fighting-type move with you, two of his three Pokemon are Steel-types. Ground-type moves work here too. Elgyem is his new Pokemon, a Psychic-type, so if you have a Bug or Dark-type move at your disposal, try to save it until you face it. Fire-type moves also prove useful here too against the Steel-types. His Magnemite has evolved into Magneton since your last encounter with him. His Klink has just gone up 2 levels, that should be easy to defeat.
Defeating Colress will win you the Tournament. As a result, you will be give 1 BP (or "Battle Point") which you can use to exchange for prizes which I will get to later. You will be in auto-mode and brought to Hugh, Clay and Cheren. Roxie will come up and she will have heard about the PWT and the battles you had then leave. Clay will leave after telling you to continue entering the Tournaments at the PWT - which there will be a whole different section on later. Leave the building.
Hugh and Cheren will follow suit after you. Cheren will mention that you two have changed drastically since your Gym Battle with him. Suddenly a Team Plasma Grunt runs across the screen than makes a quick-90 to the south. Hugh notices and wants to run off, but Colress then exits the building telling Hugh not to before he can take a step. Hugh doesn't listen and runs off anyways, Cheren follows him - though in a walk. Colress believes they are being reckless and talks a little bit more. Follow Hugh and Cheren south to the docks. Your Pokemon should have been healed after the Tournament, but check and see if they are not. If not, head back to the Driftveil Center and heal up, then head south. On your way there, hang a left and pick up the PP Up in plain sight, continue south and find a ship, hop on board.
Plasma Frigate
Trainers Pokemon: Team Plasma Grunt (Koffing LV30), Team Plasma Grunt (Trubbish LV30), Team Plasma Grunts (Double Battle - Grimer LV29, Golbat LV29, Krokorok LV29, Liepard LV29), Team Plasma Grunts (Double Battle - Grimer LV29, Koffing LV29, Raticate LV29, Watchog LV29)
Items:
Hugh and Cheren wonder why the ship was disguised and the fact that it is cold on board. Team Plasma Grunts then come up and surround the three of you. The three of you figure out that this ship is in fact the base of Team Plasma. You will be sent into a back-to-back battle with the Grunts. Next, go to Cheren and engage in a Double Battle with the Grunts, then do the same with Hugh. If you try to do vice-versa, Hugh will just tell you to back up Cheren. Cheren will use his Level 33 Stoutland to battle with you. Dan will use his Level 33 Starter.
After the series of battles, Hugh and Cheren want to start asking questions to Team Plasma - only to be interrupted by Zinzolin, one of the former Seven Sages in Pokemon Black & White. He was the one you found in the Cold Storage two years ago. Cheren asks about their plans. Zinzolin will reveal that the plan is relatively the same in that they will use a legendary Dragon-type Pokemon to take over the Unova region and rule. He summons the Shadow Triad to knock you out cold and place you on the docks outside where you entered. You will see that they have escaped. Hugh realizes that Team Plasma has done just that and (again) runs off to find them. Cheren realizes what had just happened and what was said. He knows that from two years ago that Reshiram and Zekrom - the two Legendary Pokemon from Black & White - are not in Unova any longer. Cheren goes out to Route 6 and research something. We will go out there soon, but for now heal up then go back to the PWT and enter the cave that is to the west of the main PWT area - that is the Relic Passage. Make sure you have a Pokemon that knows Dig or have an Escape Rope handy before you go. A couple of Repels would be handy too.
Relic Passage
Wild Pokemon: Boldore, Gurdurr, Onix**, Raticate, Woobat, Drilbur*, Rattata (near exit to Castelia), Roggenrola (near exit to Castelia)
Trainers Pokemon: Backpacker (Sandslash LV32), Backpacker (Raticate LV32), Hiker (Drilbur LV31, Roggenrola LV31), Hiker (Roggenrola LV31, Timburr LV31), Psychic (Swoobat LV33), Psychic (Baltoy LV32, Yamask LV32), Backpacker (Watchog LV32), Backpacker (Herdier LV18), Scientist (Grimer LV18), Scientist (Venipede LV17, Koffing LV17)
Items: Protein, Blue Shard, Max Repel (x2), Green Shard, Red Shard, Yellow Shard, Ultra Ball, Rock Gem, Rare Candy, Rocky Helmet, Escape Rope (x2), Hard Stone
At the end, you really could have found this place earlier if you happen to bump into it while roaming the Castelia Sewers - because that is where the other end of this is at. Thus the lower leveled trainers you see there at the end of this list.
First, use the Repels if you have any because we will be doing a lot of walking while it here - and the entire place that is walk-able is basically a grassy area, so a wild Pokemon can be found at any given moment inside a cave. Go south then head west around the rock formation, battle the trainer, then head east and take the north path at the fork. Go around that rock formation and find a boulder. Use Strength and push it into the hole you saw coming around. Go back around and head north, battle the trainer, then pick up the Max Repel. Head back the way you came and continue eastward, battle the trainer and exit south.
Head south until you hit water and then go east, battle the trainer, then head south and then west - using the Dowsing Machine, pick up the two items there. Go back north then head east, then head south at the first opening, battle the trainer, then use the Dowsing Machine to find another item. Go back north and take the north path at the fork, use Strength to push the bolder into the hole. Go south and then take the east path that will redirect north, battle the trainer, then go to the boulder and pick up the item. Go east just a little and use Strength and push the bolder into the hole. Do not go north into the Relic Castle, we will get there next trip into the passage. Head south back the way you came and continue south until you see a path to the west. Go that way and then go back south, battle the trainer and pick up the item next to the boulder. Head eastward to go to the next room.
Follow the path until you see a boulder, use Strength to push it into the hole, now take the path north and follow it into the next room. Collect the loot of items and use your Dowsing Machine to find a Rock Gem in there too. Go back the way you came and go west at where you last pushed the boulder. Hop over the first ledge but before hopping over the second one, turn left and pick up the item. Hop over the second ledge and follow the path until you reach a trainer, battle him and continue east to another trainer, battle him then pick up the item to the north. Follow the path east until you see the exit - DO NOT EXIT - make a U-turn to the other path and head north, down the steps and battle the last trainer there. After that battle, head west to pick up the last visible item, then go south of the trainer using the Dowsing Machine to pick up a hidden Escape Rope, use it to exit the Passage back to the PWT (if you had exited south a short while ago, it would have taken you to the Sewers).
Now heal up, make sure you bring plenty of Ultra Balls because we will be meeting a one-time-chance-to-catch Pokemon on this trip, and go back in. Follow the path until you reach the first exit like before. On the second floor, go eastward until you reach the entrance that I told you not to go into before. That is the Relic Castle - the same one from before northwest of Route 4 - except we are entering it from below.
Relic Castle
Wild Pokemon: Krokorok, Sandile, Sandslash, Yamask, Baltoy^, Volcarona&
Items: Ultra Ball, Sun Stone
^ - Baltoy is the only Wild Pokemon that can be found in the "Deepest Part" of the Relic Castle - and that Pokemon cannot be found in any other parts of the Castle.
& - Only one is available in the game
Go all the way to the eastern end to find an Ultra Ball at the northeast corner of that room. Go back to the center room and use the Dowsing Machine to find a Sun Stone. Now enter the room to the north. SAVE YOUR GAME, then engage with the Bug/Fire-type Pokemon Volcarona to have your attempt at catching it. It will be at Level 35 - so it can make a nice addition to your team at this point. Use typical catching methods to get it. Exit how you please back to Driftveil City, heal up, then head out to Route 6.
Route 6
Wild Pokemon: Deerling^, Foongus***(1&2), Karrablast, Marill% (S**), Shelmet, Swadloon, Tranquill, Audino*, Azumarill* (S*), Castform*, Dunsparce* (HG1), Emolga*, Leavanny*, Unfezant*, Woobat (HG1&2), Nosepass (HG2), Basculin(R) (B2 / W2*, S), Basculin(B) (W2 / B2*, S)
Trainers Pokemon: Scientist (Deerling LV28), Pokemon Breeder# (Minccino LV27, Deerling LV27), Parasol Lady (Castform LV28), School Kid (Deerling LV27, Shelmet LV27), Scientist (Shelmet LV27, Karrablast LV27), School Kid (Foongus LV27, Karrablast LV27), Parasol Lady (Castform LV28), Pokemon Ranger (Whirlipede LV28, Foongus LV28)
Items: Moon Stone, Shiny Stone, Elixir, HM03 (Surf)$, TinyMushroom, Heart Scale+, Big Mushroom+, PP Up+, Ultra Ball, Protein, Pecha Berry, TM56 (Fling)+
^ - Its form changes with the seasons, this also goes to all trainers who have this Pokemon
# - This trainer will battle you each time you enter Route 6
$ - This item cannot be received until the Quake Badge and the Team Plasma event at the PWT is completed
% - This Pokemon can be found in the wild grass and while surfing
+ - This item needs Surf in order to reach it
Note: HG1 = Hidden Grotto 1, HG2 = Hidden Grotto 2. Hidden Grotto 2 cannot be reached until Surf is obtained. HG1&2 or 1&2 means that the Pokemon can be found in both. (B2 / W2*, S) = Can be found in both, but only while surfing in Black 2 Version and when the water ripples in White 2 Version). S = Pokemon can be found while Surfing.
You could have gone to Route 6 to train before the Driftveil Gym battle, thus the reason why the Trainers are just in the upper 20s in level than the lower 30s. Be aware that some of the items that look like items in plan sight may really be Foongus in disguise and will prompt a wild battle.
As you can see, we will get Surf while on Route 6, so I've added the Surf Wild Pokemon information. This will now be added to each new route and should we come across a route we have been on already, the Surfing information will be posted then. If we do not cross it until after the Walkthrough, it will be placed on a page in "taking a second trip in Unova".
Continue along the path until you cross the third trainer, you will see two items. Take the one on the right instead of the one in the grass. The one in the grass is a Foongus.
Continue westward along the path to meet up with Cheren in-front of the building. He will take you into the building and tell you the reason he is out here. He reveals that there is a sudden drop in temperature near Lacunosa Town - which is on the opposite end of Unova that you are currently at. He reveals that at one point it dropped to -58*F (or -50*C) and reveals that Castelia City and Driftveil City has had around the same Tempature at one point. He wants to investigate before it gets worse. He reveals he hates cold weather, so to help him he hands over HM03 (Surf). Now you can ride on water - and a decent Water-type move as well. While you are in the building, talk to the man with the Brown Deerling and he'll ask you to take care of it. Answer yes to obtain the Deerling (you must have a free slot in your party in order to take it - or he will keep it until that point). Exit the building - oh, and teach a Pokemon Surf.
Go back down the river along the river until you pick up a Heart Scale, then go back up the river until you pick up the Big Mushroom and the PP Up. Now head back westward to continue along Route 6. Pass the first look-alike item - its a Foongus - and pick up the second look-alike, which is an actual Ultra Ball. The third one you see is a Foongus too.
Continue north across the bridge to hear a Pokemon scream that scared the crap out of me. The Legendary Pokemon Cobalion shows up in-front of you but then quickly leaves. Rood and an Elderly Man comes up from behind you and tells you about the three Legendary Pokemon, the others being Virizion and Terrakion, and what they did to protect the Pokemon from war with the humans. They wonder why though one just showed up in-front of you. They feel that a new problem has arisen. Rood hopes that you can befriend Cobalion and believes it will help you. But for now, just take that information for memory moving forward.
Go to your immediate right after they are finished talking (they won't leave until you leave Route 6), go into the house and talk to the lady in the center to heal your Pokemon. You can go back here instead of Flying back to Driftveil City. Exit the building and go north until you reach the Chargestone Cave. Enter the cave.
Chargestone Cave
Wild Pokemon: Boldore, Ferroseed, Joltik, Klink, Nosepass, Tynamo, Drilbur*
"N's Pokemon": Boldore LV28, Ferroseed LV28, Joltik LV28, Klink LV28
Trainers Pokemon: Guitarist (Emolga LV30), Scientist (Magneton LV30), Ace Trainer (Triple Battle - Sandslash LV33, Unfezant LV33, Klink LV33), Pokemon Ranger (Ampharos LV34), Pokemon Ranger (Minccino LV33, Excadrill LV33), Doctor^ (Solosis LV32, Gothita LV32), Scientist (Joltik LV32, Golbat LV32), Guitarist (Zebstrika LV33), Ace Trainer (Rotation Battle - Stoutland LV33, Krokorok LV33, Ferroseed LV33), Hiker (Onix LV32, Boldore LV32), Ace Trainer (Archen LV34, Electabuzz LV34), Ace Trainer (Tirtouga LV34, Magmar LV34), Hiker (Aron LV32, Nosepass LV32)
Items: Full Heal, Yellow Shard, Hyper Potion (x2), Max Repel, Magnet, Nugget, Big Nugget, Carbos, Chesto Berry (x2), Ultra Ball, Iron, Metal Coat, Thunderstone
^ - will heal Pokemon to full strength if you defeat the Doctor in a Pokemon Battle
Much like before, have your Repels ready to use so you are not in here all day having to run away or battle a wild Pokemon every 10 steps. It is worth noting that if your Magnemite has evolved into Magneton by now, if you level it up while it is in the Chargestone Cafe it will evolve into a Magnezone. You can use a Rare Candy to do this on Magneton.
This is another long cafe so keep up or you will lose your way.
You will meet up with Bianca, she will reveal that you can move the floating stones that are inside the cave, although you cannot push all of them. She will head off north.
Pick up the item in plain sight by pushing the floating stone towards a light blue rock. Continue north to find another stone in-between two ledges. Push it to the right and then continue north. Go up the stairs and battle the trainer. Keep going eastward and pick up the Hyper Potion. Hop over the ledge and battle the trainer. Go south knocking the top-most stone to the right and pick up the Max Repel. Circle back around to the first trainer and go to the two floating stones. Knock the top-most one to the left and the other down. Go south without jumping the ledge and then east, then south, then east across the bridge. About halfway across, you will hear someone talking without a visual as to who it was. That person will exit. Continue eastward, knock the stone down, then go south and follow the path. Battle the trainer, then go past the steps and knock the lower stone to the left. Follow the narrow path to pick up a Magnet. Go back the way you came and then go downstairs.
Go west until you come across two people that appears to be a double battle. They are not trainers but they will give you a Nugget and a Big Nugget. Continue west along the path until you find more stairs. Go up.
Make a U-Turn (don't jump the ledge) and go south and battle the trainer. Use your Dowsing Maching to find a Carbos, go back down the stairs you came up on.
Go east until you run into the Nugget boys again. This time, head north, use the Dowsing Maching to find a Ultra Ball, then go back down until before you reach the steps and then go east. Battle the trainer, then pick up an Iron ahead. Battle the doctor, defeat him to heal your Pokemon up which I assume you need after this many battles. Continue to follow the path north until you cross another trainer to battle. Knock the stone to the left, then the next stone up, go up and then down the stairs.
Go south and battle another trainer. Continue south and hit the stone down, continue along the path and pick up an Escape Rope. Follow the path around the rock and then head south to the end to battle another trainer (a Rotation Battle BTW), go down the stairs and battle another trainer. Follow the path southward, pick up the Metal Coat, then use the Dowsing Machine around the Ace Trainer you fought and pick up an Electric Gem. Go back around, up the stairs, then north and then continue back eastward which will turn north. Battle yet another trainer. Continue north and pick up a Thunderstone. Make a giant U back to the stairs you took.
Go south after going upstairs and hit the stone down, follow the path westward and pick up a Revive. Go back to the stairs but don't take them, go east - noticing Bianca but not stopping you this time - up those stairs.
Follow the path and battle another trainer. Continue southward until you cross another trainer. Continue directly southward until you find a Hiker and battle it. Pick up the Carbos behind him, head back toward the first trainer in this room and this time go east and FINALLY out of Chargestone Cave into Mistralton City.
Mistralton City
Items: Iron, HP Up (up to x6), Master Ball, Flying Gem, Max Repel, TM58 (Sky Drop), Net Ball (x5), Sharp Beak
First, heal up at the Pokemon Center which should be the first thing to cross you on the right. Next enter the house on the right, go to the trash can and pick up an Iron. Then talk to the lady and she'll glamour about the number of TM's you have. If you have collected at least 10, she will hand you an HP Up. She will hand you another when you have gathered 20, 35, 50, 70, and when you have collected all of them. That's a total of 6 HP Up's you can obtain.
Now attempt to go past the Center to have Professor Juniper - in person for a change - come up to you. She will evaluate your Pokedex and then hand you the ever-cherished Master Ball. It of course allows you to catch a Pokemon without fail - so save it for a Legendary you really want. Skyla - the Mistralton City Gym Leader - will come out from behind. Skyla was asked to lift Juniper to Opelucad City but Juniper wanted to check out Celestial Tower first, she leaves to the east. Skyla can't believe it and thinks either she's too laid back or isn't paying attention to what she is asking for. Skyla is right in assuming you want to challenger her, she leaves and goes back to her Gym. You can either head to Route 7 to train or go on ahead and challenge Skyla. But first, explore the rest of Mistralton City. Check the runway and then check the Greenhouses(B2)/Fields(W2) for items. There will be a man infront of those that wants to buy Mulch. You may have come across some when exploring the Grottoes. He will pay you 1,000 for each Mulch you sell to him. Go a little north of him to find the item TM58 (Sky Drop).
Next, go into the Cargo Service building next to the run way, talk to the luggage man at the upper-right. He will ask if you have a Flying or Psychic-type Pokemon on you. If you do, help him out and get 5 Net Balls in return. Not a bad day's work. Now talk to the woman near the service counter and she'll hand you a Sharp Beak.
Now that we are done exploring, you can either challenge Skyla or head out to Route 7 and the Celestial Tower to where Professor Juniper is to train. I will go to Route 7 on the Walkthrough, but feel free to skip ahead to the Gym Battle and come back to Route 7 later. Exit northeast to Route 7.
Route 7
Wild Pokemon: Deerling, Foongus, Seviper***, Tranquill, Watchog***, Zangoose***, Zebstrika, Cubchoo (W / HG[All Seasons]), Audino*, Emolga*, Unfezant*
Trainers Pokemon: Pokemon Breeder^ (Ducklett LV34, Tranquill LV34), Lass (Triple Battle - Ducklett LV33 x2, Unfezant LV33), Youngster (Rotation Battle - Stoutland LV33, Deerling LV33 x2), Preschooler (Darumaka LV34), Preschooler (Sunflora LV34), Nursey Aide (Cleffa LV34, Cinccino LV34)
Items: Zinc, Revive, Elixir, Leaf Stone, TinyMushroom
^ - This trainer will battle you each time you enter Route 7
For now, I will give the short chase and give the rest once we leave Celestial Tower. The route splits two ways, one way where there is a bridge across the grassy area - another narrow bridge like we saw at the Virbank Complex - and a path around the thick grass, which obviously has a trainer - and not only that, but a trainer that will battle you each time you enter Route 7. Battle him, then reach a house to the left. Enter inside and talk to man who wants to trade you his Gigalith for your Emolga. If you want to make the trade, do so. Exit the building and cross the narrow bridge (or walk across the tall grass) eastward, then head north. Battle the trainer (which will be a Triple Battle), then get on the narrow bridge there that will go eastward. Enter the building once you are off the bridge, talk to the old man to hear the tale about the Kami Trio (Tornadus, Thundurus, and Landorus). Those Pokemon will be registered in your Pokedex since they will not be seen elsewhere in the game. Talk to the lady on the right to heal your Pokemon. Exit the building and go back on the narrow bridge you were just on, then follow the clear path north. Battle all the trainers and collect all the items - and Foongus - and enter Celestial Tower.
Celestial Tower
Wild Pokemon^: Litwick#, Golbat, Elgyem
Trainers Pokemon: Psychic (Musharna LV36), School Kid (Litwick LV35), Pokefan (Celfairy LV35), Pokefan (Cubchoo LV35), Pyschic (Espeon LV36), Pyschic (Elgyen LV35, Duosion LV35), Nurse% (Leavanny LV35), Socialite (Roselia LV35), Gentleman (Umbreon LV35), Psychic (Yamask LV35, Gothorita LV35)
Items: Lucky Egg, Hyper Potion, TM61 (Will-O-Wisp), Revive, PP Up, TM65 (Shadow Claw), Ghost Gem
^ - The Wild Pokemon can only been seen on floors 3-5
# - This Pokemon can also be seen on floor 2
% - will heal your Pokemon to full strength if you defeat the Nurse in a Pokemon Battle
Be aware that we will be seeing a lot of Ghost-type Pokemon, so Normal/Fighting-type moves will not work.
Walk ahead and find Professor Juniper. Initiate a talk with her and she will give you the really rare Lucky Egg item. While this has been in the games for a long time, this is the first time that it is given to you. It used to be found on a wild Chansey - which is rare itself - and the Lucky Egg had a 1% chance of being equipped with it. For a while, this used to be the only time you could find one. The Lucky Egg allows the holder to gain 50% more experience in battle. So a Pokemon you got in a trade or that is not yours could get up to 125% more than normal. A really useful item when trying to train a Pokemon. Give it to a Pokemon that needs it, then head upstairs to the second floor.
Go up, left, then up and battle the trainer, then right, up then all the way left to pick up the Hyper Potion, go all the way back right, down, then right, battle the trainer, and pick up TM61 (Will-O-Wisp), go around to the right back left, up, battle the trainer, then left, up, and finally right, up the stairs to the third floor.
Go right, down, left, battle the trainer, then down, left, up, pick up Revive, then right, battle the trainer, continue right, battle the trainer, go left, down, battle the Nurse - she will heal your Pokemon if you defeat her. Go up to the fourth floor.
Go left, battle the trainer, then up, left, pick up PP Up, go all the way right (if you happen to battle the Gentleman above the path- do so), battle the trainer, pick up TM65 (Shadow Claw), then go back left, up, battle the trainer (if you hadn't already), go up the stairs to the fifth floor.
Go up to the bell and ring it - it does nothing but its a nice sound, use the Dowsing Machine to find a Ghost Gem hidden up here. Go back down to the first floor and exit the place back to Route 7. Heal at the Nurse on the third floor on your way out.
Route 7
Trainers Pokemon: Harlequin (Baltoy LV35), Twins (Double Battle - Zangoose LV33, Seviper LV33), Harlequin (Baltoy LV35)
Items: TM81 (X-Scissor)
Go back south then east back to the house where you saw the Kami Trio. This time continue eastward along the route. When you go up the stairs past the house, your Xtransceiver will ring and your Mom - as worried as all parents are - calls to check up on you. She'll hang up after reminding you to always go to a Center if your Pokemon are seriously hurt. Your mom reveals she used to work at one herself.
Anyways...continue east and go across the narrow bridge, battle the trainer on it, then continue on the bridge and find TM81 (X-Scissor), go back across it or through the Dark Grass and out the north end of it. Battle the twins you saw earlier getting the TM, then go on the northern narrow bridge, battle the trainer, then come out on the other side of it. Go to the end of Route 7 up the stairs only to be stopped by Marshal - a member of the Elite Four - who tells you that the path inside Twist Mountain has collapsed, so you cannot go through Twist Mountain - like many other blocked routes - until after you defeat him and the rest of the Elite Four when the time comes. But for now, either Fly back or go through Route 7 back to Mistralton City, you still need to challenge Skyla anyways - so go and heal then challenge the Gym!
Mistralton Gym
Trainers Pokemon: Pilot (Swoobat LV37), Pilot (Sigilyph LV37), Pilot (Archen LV36, Unfezant LV36), Pilot (Unfezant LV37), Pilot (Ducklett LV36, Swoobat LV36)
Items: Fresh Water, TM62 (Acrobatics)
The Gym is in the northwest corner of the city - at the top of the runway at the airport. Enter and (with another customized version of the Gym Music) take a step forward to have the fan gust up and have the Guide crash into you. As an apology, he'll hand you a Fresh Water (Like you weren't going to get one anyway). The camera pans to the three large fans at the far end of the Gym, indicating that when those fans increase in speed, it will blow you back towards the front of the gym. In order to avoid getting blown away, hide behind a wall and wait for the fans to go back to normal. He also reveals (as if the airport and the sky-type atmosphere wasn't a dead-giveaway) that she is a master of the Flying-type. Rock, Electric and Ice-type attacks are the keys to defeating Skyla.
As for the puzzle. Go RUN forward then RUN eastward to get behind a wall - emphasize on the word RUN!. Once the wind dies, dart around forward, battle the trainer, then run forward to get behind that wall. If you get caught at that point, just run forward to the wall again - you didn't lose much ground. Once the wind dies, run south then west to get behind that wall. Once the win dies, run west then south and get behind that wall. Battle the trainer, wait for the wind to die without darting behind a wall (you are at the front of the gym at this point but on the left side instead of the entrance) then run forward then turn right to get behind that wall. Once the wind dies, go west then north and get behind the wall with the trainer - battle him. Once the wind dies, zig-zag around to the next trainer. Wait for the wind to die (you won't go further than the wall you and the trainer are against), then go east then north and dart into that wall, let the wind die, then RUN west, go north and hide behind the wall, then go eastward (on the lowest path you did not just take) to the other end, allow the wind to catch you into a wall, battle the trainer, then go forward to the end into the back wall. Use your items to heal up, then finally challenge Skyla to a Gym Battle.
GYM LEADER BATTLE: SKYLA
Swoobat - Level 37
Skarmory - Level 37
Swanna - Level 39
She will lead with Swoobat - a combination Flying/Psychic-type. You can lead off with your Dark-type Pokemon out of the gate as it will be very effective against Swoobat due to its Psychic-typing. Obvious Electric-type moves will work as well along with her other two Pokemon - like say Magnezone? Magnemite has come in VERY handy in each Gym Battle - and because of its defense, it can stay out awhile. If you did not catch one at the Virbank Complex, you are having a much harder time I imagine. Skarmory is a combination Steel-type Pokemon, so Fire-type moves prove effective here as well. Swanna is her ace, although a bad one as it is part Water-type, making it double weak to Electric-type attacks. If you have a solid Electric-type, you could use it on all Pokemon, but attempt to save it for Swanna if you can defeat the other two with other type-weaknesses they have beside Electric, that is a recipe for an easy win.
Defeating Skyla will earn you the Jet Badge, with it all Pokemon up to Level 70 will obey you. She will also hand over TM62 (Acrobatics). Take a few steps south to a platform with arrows going down. When you step on it, you will be flown straight out of the gym by the powerful fans.
Mistralton City
Items: TM40 (Aerial Ace)
Skyla will exit the Gym as well and Professor Juniper walks up to meet up with the two of you. Juniper wanted you to tag along as well on the flight across the Unova region wanting you to meet someone in Opelucid City. Luckly there is a Gym there too so that you can earn your 7th Badge. The flight destination though is Lentimas Town as Opelucid City does not have a runway and that is the closest town with a runway. Skyla complains about Juniper's way of doing things and runs off toward the Cargo Service.
Heal up but first go to the building north of the Center, talk to the guy on the right. He reveals a TM is on the runway. Go there and head south near the Greenhouses/Fields to the northwest corner to find TM40 (Aerial Ace). Upon picking the item up, the boy you talked to and the lady with the Ducklett and the two allows you to keep the TM. They leave. Now head to the Cargo Service building.
Talk to Skyla inside the Cargo Service when you are ready building to fly off. Before you can, Bianca comes running in and while huffing and puffing wails on the three of you to wait and wants to join too so that she can research stuff at Reversal Mountain that is near the area. You three allow her to, and ya'll (finally) fly off - and on to Part 6!
