Part 2 - Virbank City
Route 20
Trainers Pokemon: Hiker (Riolu LV11), Preschooler (Psyduck LV10), Preschooler (Lillipup LV10), Nursery Aide (Dunsparce LV11), Twins (Double Battle - Sunkern LV9 x2)
Items: Pecha Berry (x3), Great Ball (x3), Antidote, Dire Hit
Go to the path that the Hiker previously blocked off, he'll challenge you to a battle. Defeat him and advance to the east-then-south. Cheren and Hugh will stop you after taking about 12 steps south. Cheren will bring you and your rival to the darker grassy area and explain the Double-Wild Pokemon Battles. He will then hand you some Pecha Berries (3 of them) and then leave. Your rival will walk into the tall grass in attempt to get stronger. Go into the dark grass and pick up a Great Ball. Go eastward into the lighter grass on the first level and pick up a Antidote. Head up to the second level northward and pick up a Dire Hit. Go eastward and battle the twins in your first Double Battle. Make sure ahead of time that you line up your party. The top two Pokemon in your party will be chosen for battle. Then head east through the gate to Virbank City. Inside the gate, you will be stopped by the gate worker. She will hand you two Great Balls. Advance into Virbank City to the east.
Virbank City
Items: Antidote, Poke Toy, Burn Heal, Poke Ball (x5)
You can't take more than a step before the Xtransceiver rings on you. Your mom decides to call and check up on you.
After that, head to the Pokemon Center to heal up - or rather see a conversation take place infront of the Center. A captain and Roxie - who is the Virbank Gym Leader - are having an argument. The sailor, who reveals himself to be Roxie's father, explains his desire to be an actor at the Pokemon Studios located north of Virbank City. Roxie doesn't buy it but the Captain goes away to live his dream anyways. This wouldn't be much of a problem for you if he was not your only way to get to Castelia City, but he is. Roxie gets angry to the point where she is name calling. She walks back to the gym, revealing to be southward.
Go to the Center now and heal up, you have things to do here anyways before attempting to reach Castelia City by boat. Check around the city inside all the buildings to pick up all the items that you can. You can head to the Gym and challenge Roxie at this point. If you want to train before hand, head south to the Virbank Complex where you can battle Wild Pokemon, maybe even catch one, and some trainers. This walkthrough will head south to the Virbank Complex. You can skip that portion if you want to head straight to the Gym and come back later, just go further down. If you want to continue following along the walkthrough, head south to the Virbank Complex.
Virbank Complex
Wild Pokemon: Elekid (W2), Magby (B2), Magnemite, Patrat, Pidove, Audino*, Growlithe, Koffing
Trainers Pokemon: Youngster (Lillipup LV13), Worker (Patrat LV12, Elekid LV12), Worker (Magby LV12, Koffing LV12), Worker (Riolu LV12, Lillipup LV12), Youngster (Patrat LV13), Lass (Woobat LV13)
Items: X Accuracy, Silk Scarf, TM94 (Rock Smash), Great Ball (x6), TM46 (Thief), Ether, TinyMushroom
Get the X Accuracy in plain sight once you enter, turn right and follow the stairs down. At night, a man will be visible after you go downstairs. He will be there at night every night wanting to trade you a Great Ball for a Poke Ball. Of course this is a good deal so make the trade. There are no strings attached to this, so do it. Follow the winding path all the way around and pick up the Silk Scarf at the end. Go back to the grassy area and head south.
Talk to the man once the game goes "inside" the complex. He will ask you to fire up all the workers. There are 3 in total. Find all 3 of them and defeat each of them in a Pokemon Battle. Note that some of the bridges you have to cross to get to the Workers will eventually make you lose your balance if you stand in one spot for too long. Also, if you go in a wrong direction while on the narrow bridge, you will fall off. The first worker can be found by going to the stairs to the south and then going southeast across the bridges then down the steps to reach him. Pick up the item that's further down the steps (TM46 - Thief) then go back to the bridges. Head north on the bridges to eventually find the second Worker. Then head west across the first bridge and jumping off the second bridge to find the third worker. The Workers can be battled in any order that you choose. Return to the man after defeating the 3 Workers and be rewarded with TM94 (Rock Smash). There are also three other Trainers you can battle, all have Level 13 Pokemon to train against on top of the Worker's Pokemon.
In the Light Grassy Area that you crossed heading to the stairs, you'll notice a spot in the middle without grass, go to the area and hit the "A" button to collect a Great Ball.
Head south to the deck and talk to the lady on the left. If you complete the Virbank Habitat List (which you can look at in your Pokedex), the lady will hand you 5 Great Balls. To complete the list, walk through the grassy area until you meet all the Wild Pokemon of your version (listed at the top of this part of the Walkthrough). For example, if you are playing White 2 version, you do not have to see a Magby to complete the list since it cannot be found in this version, same for Elekid in Black 2.
Now head through the light grassy area then go north through the darker grassy area to find a scientist who is babbling about the complex. Talk to him and he'll walk off. Go back to the steps which you first took to find the workers. Instead of walking up the steps, go behind the steps and speak to the scientist again. He will walk away again. Go south to the deck and find him once more, this time after he speaks to you, he will hand you an Ether.
That is it for the Virbank Complex, head back to Virbank City, heal up, then head to the (rather remote) Virbank Gym. The Gym can be found by going southeast from the Pokemon Center - it is literally the smallest building in town (as opposed to other gyms). You know you have found it by finding the barely working electrical Unova Gym logo.
Virbank Gym
Trainers Pokemon: Roughneck (Grimer LV14, Koffing LV14), Guitarist (Venipede LV14, Koffing LV14)
Items: Fresh Water, TM09 (Venoshock)
You'll notice once you first enter this is not your ordinary gym. In fact, it is about as rundown as it can get. The gym is a pub more-or-less. Anyways....head down stairs to be stopped by the Gym Guide who will hand you a Fresh Water. You will notice the music getting louder as you get closer to the door (Note that this is not the normal Gym Music you are hearing but you are in fact in the right place).
Enter through the double-doors to hear a band remix of the Gym music including some actual lyrics to the Gym music. The puzzle here is you must stop the music they are practicing in order to challenge Roxie who is leading her band. You must challenge the drummer (in which the drums will be taken out of the Gym music once you defeat him), then the gutiar player (her music as well), and finally Roxie (who will realize that the other music has stopped and get angry) - a specialist in Poison-Type Pokemon. Get ready for battle:
GYM LEADER BATTLE: ROXIE
Koffing - Level 16
Whirlpede - Level 18
Prize Money: 2160
Koffing is her leadoff and should not pose any further problems than the other two Koffing you faced leading up to this. Her Whirlpede is the big problem. It has the ability Poison Point - meaning if you attack with a physical move (like Tackle), it will poison the attacker. It also has the move Venoshock, dealing a lot of damage and has a good chance of poisoning the defender if it is still standing - in which case if the move is used again while the defender is poisoned, that damaged is doubled - do NOT let it get to that. Fire and Flying-type moves are useful here. If you caught a Magnemite earlier, its Steel-typing makes it immune from Poison-type attacks like Venoshock. It is also immune to being poisoned.
Defeating Roxie will earn you the Toxic Badge and save you from her music (which has completely stopped at this point). With 2 badges in hand, all Pokemon up to Level 30 will obey you without problems. She will also fork over TM09 (Venoshock).
Attempt to leave the Gym and be stopped by the blonde haired guy that was previously blocking off the entrance to the north of Virbank City when you leave the stage. He will tell you to go to Pokestar Studios and leave. Roxie comes down and forgot about the argument she had when you first got here and also leaves the gym to get the Captain back to work. Now leave the eerie-ly quiet gym, heal up and head north to Pokestar Studios.
Pokestar Studios
After you enter through the gate, the scene goes to the Blonde guy and another dressed up guy (revealing later to be Mr. Stu Deeoh (Mr. Deeoh is what we will call him), the owner of the Studios), they realize the kid that they believe that has talent is here (which is you of course). Mr. Deeoh needs time to prepare for you, so the Blonde guy will show you around. Mr. Deeoh runs off and then you follow the Blonde guy (in auto-mode) all around the area while being explained what Pokestar Studios is. You run into the Captain inside the Theater where the films are shown who figures out that you have defeated his daughter Roxie. The Captain then has you to follow him (still in auto-mode) into seeing his movie they have just released. You watch the movie featuring the Captain which features a Pokemon Battle between a Riolu and a Pawniard. Pawniard faints in one move. The opposing trainer sends out Vullaby which knocks out Riolu in one hit. The movie ends in a weird way with the hero defeated (in which the Captain played the role in) and the evil guy winning. The Captain realizes that acting is not for him and goes back to the ship resuming his duties of running the boat that runs between Castelia City and Virbank City. The Blonde hair guy takes you out of the Theater and into the Filming Studio. (You are still in auto-mode this entire time). Mr. Deeoh is there waiting on you and wants you in his movies. Your first movie will be co-starred by Brycen - the Gym Leader in Icirrus City in Black & White. He will enter and leave. Finally you are able to move. So go through the door and engage in your first acting job.
For the first film, you must use the Rental Pokemon they have - there is the option of choosing one of your own Pokemon but you will be declined for that option if you choose it on a new film. Once you choose "Rental \Pokemon", you will be taken inside to the green room and start filming.
The film is the same battle you witnessed in the Theater. Riolu vs. Pawniard and then Vullaby. Defeat Pawniard with Force Palm and then Vullaby with Ice Beam (the two moves those two respectively are weak against). After winning the battle, you will be in auto-mode again and leave. Go on ahead and see the film you just shot. Mr. Deeoh appeared to maybe take you to the theater but had to leave because of something that came up. Head to the theater yourself once you are free of auto-mode and watch the movie, to which it has the ending it is supposed to have - a good ending. Attempt to leave to be stopped by Mr. Deeoh who compliments you and leave, now you can go back to Virbank City.
Virbank City
Trainers Pokemon: Team Plasma Grunt (Patrat LV14)
Items: HM01 (Cut)
Heal up if you haven't already done so and attempt to go to the docks to find Roxie and Hugh up against 3 Team Galactic members. After some dialogue by everyone, engage with your member to battle and defeat him. Roxie and Hugh defeat their Grunts as well and all of them runoff westward (after pushing you out of the way). Roxie tells you and Hugh to split up and check out Route 20 to chase them down. As Roxie leaves, she stops, turns around and hands you HM01 (Cut) as a reward for saving her Pokemon, then runs off. Hugh describes you what a Hidden Machine is (can be taught unlimited amount of times but cannot be removed as a learned move unless you do so by a Move Deleter and is one of several field moves you can use outside of battle - some TM's are also field moves like Rock Smash you picked up earlier). Hugh leaves to Route 20, heal up and go yourself.
Route 20
Trainers Pokemon: Team Plasma Grunt (Purrloin LV14)
You will notice right away the change in music to something more dramatic. Follow Route 20 to find Hugh at a bridge. Go south of him through the grassy area until you find the Team Plasma Grunt. Defeat her and she'll flee (and so does the dramatic music). Hugh comes in and figures Castelia City is where they will strike next and leaves. Go back to Virbank City yourself and head towards the dock in the southeast corner of the city.
Virbank City
You will find Roxie with her dad, the Captain, Pop Roxie. The pair talk about the movie Pop Roxie was in, eventually Roxie figures out you were here listening in. Roxie tells you that you can sail to Castelia City now. Enter the office building once Pop Roxie goes in. Engage with Hugh who is inside already, answer yes that you are going to Castelia City. Both of you then sail to Castelia City in a heartbeat....(to Part 3)
Trainers Pokemon: Hiker (Riolu LV11), Preschooler (Psyduck LV10), Preschooler (Lillipup LV10), Nursery Aide (Dunsparce LV11), Twins (Double Battle - Sunkern LV9 x2)
