Trainers Pokemon: Clerk(M) (Growlithe LV16), Clerk(F) (Budew LV16), Clerk(M) (Marill LV16), Clerk(M) (Pidove LV17), School Kid (Eevee LV17, Herdier LV17), GAME FREAK (Clefairy LV16)$, GAME FREAK (Pansage LV14, Panpour LV14, Pansear LV14)$
Items: Heart Scale, Bicycle, Exp. Share, Quick Ball (x2), Guard Spec., Timer Ball (x5), Scope Lens, Ether, Rare Candy, TM70 (Flash), Cheri Berry/Chesto Berry/Pecha Berry/Rawst Berry/Aspear Berry#, Miracle Seed^, Sweet Heart (up to x3)#, TM44 (Rest), Revive, TM45 (Attract), Charcoal, Evolite, Destiny Knot
^ - The Wild Pokemon and Item is in the City itself but not reachable unless you go through the Castelia Sewers
# - item will be given at random each day when the requirements are met
$ - The Pokemon shown is when you first battle the trainers. They will battle you each day and as you progress further in the game, the Pokemon and their levels along with the number of Pokemon they battle with may change.
When you arrive, Hugh (finally) registers you in his Xtransceiver. Hugh then walks over and notices another ship, an old ship and walks off. Before you leave yourself, go south and find a Heart Scale in plain sight.
Exit to the north to find a Harlequin and participate in the "Castelia Harlequin Hunt." He will promptly hand you a Bicycle - allowing you to move twice as fast as before. He will tell you the buildings the Harlequin are hiding in (The Medal Office, Passerby Analytics HQ, and the Battle Company). You are free to move, so heal up - you will need it - and head out to those locations.
When you enter the Castelia Center for the first time, a girl will block your way to Nurse Joy, she'll get out of the way then ask about Geonet. She will explain if you say no. Go on ahead and heal up then set out for the Castelia Harlequin Hunt.
The Battle Company building is right next to the Harlequin that you talked to, enter the building to be stopped by an old man who will hand you an Exp. Share - which allows the holder to gain half the experience points without even having that Pokemon to battle. He leaves through the elevator. The Harlequin is in plain sight to the right. Talk to him to have a sound play notifying that you found him. Next, enter the elevator and head to the 47th floor. Engage with the people on the floor to initiate a battle. There are four trainers on the 47th floor. After getting done with that along with collecting the loot of items on that floor, head to the 55th floor. Go to the old man, the same old man that gave you the Exp. Share, and he'll allow you to challenge his grandson. Defeat him and head back to the first floor and out of the building.
Head left to the far left building that is Passerby Analytics HQ. Enter it to find the Harlequin to the right. Exit the building and head up the far left alley way.
Enter the first building on the left, that is the Medal Office. Once you enter, the lady on the right will massage one of your Pokemon for you. It is useful if you are trying to make a Pokemon friendly in order to evolve it. The man next to her is the Name Rater, he'll rate your Pokemon's nickname. He will also allow you to change your Pokemon's nickname (but not ones that were owned by another Trainer). The lady next to the elevator will check your Pokemon's Feelings, you can activate this by activating your C-Gear, hit the IR (InfraRed) button and then hitting the Feeling Check button - note you must do a Feeling Check with another person in the real world to have this checked by the lady. She will give you Sweet Hearts - a Potion more-or-less - dependent on how well you scored. Go up the elevator to the second floor and find the third and final Harlequin to the right. This is also the floor in which you can ask questions about the Medal Rally and the Medal Box you got in Flocessy Town. Now head to the third floor to find Amanita - the one who runs the PC boxes inside the Pokemon Centers (like Bill and such beforehand in earlier versions). Talk to her to change the name from "Someone's PC" to "Amanita's PC". Head back to the first floor and out of the building. Head back to the Harlequin near the piers.
Talk to the Harlequin and he will give you a Rare Candy for finding them all.
Now head up Narrow Street (the alley-way in the left-center). Go up about 10 steps to be scared off by a black-suit man who finds his sunglasses and then hands you TM70 (Flash), enter the cafe on the immediate right after obtaining TM70 and talk to the man at the counter to receive a Moomoo Milk - which allows the user to recover 100 HP when used. Hop over one alley to the right to Mode Street.
Find the colorful stand on the left to find a lady selling Casteliacones at 100 each. You can buy 1 or a dozen, but note you can only come to the stand and buy Casteliacones once a day. It is basically a much cheaper version of a Full Heal. Buy a dozen and I will explain why later on. Enter the building on the right and find a man who wants to paint a certain type of Pokemon. Show the man the type of Pokemon he wants to paint and he will give you a Berry. You can do this each day. Hop over one more alley to Castelia Street.
Enter the building on the left and head to the 11th floor. Talk to the lady with the guitar and she'll hand over TM44 (Rest). That is all here, exit the building and enter the Game Freak building across the street. Head to the 22nd floor, pick up the Revive and then initiate a battle with the two Game Freaks - you can battle them once a day every day. Exit the building and head north through the Central Plaza into the alley-way to the north leading to Route 4.
Enter the building to the left and talk to the bald man to have him fork over the Amulet Coin - allowing the holder that participates in battle to double your prize money! There is nothing outside of that, exit the building and head to the building directly across the street. Go to the elevator and go up to the 47th floor (after being frisked by the security guard that was guarding the elevator...) Talk to the blue-dreesed person on the left to obtain TM45 (Attract). Exit the building and head to the one next door to it. Talk to the Aide near the elevator. If you have seen 40 Pokemon, he will hand you an Evolite. Go to the 47th floor and find the Charcoal item that is in plain sight to the lower-right. Exit the building and head back towards the piers and attempt to exit Castelia City to the right.
At the gate, talk to the first lady you come across and she'll quickly hand over the Quick Claw. You'll notice that the gate is blocked off because they are inspecting Skyarrow Bridge. It will remain blocked off until you reach the Hall of Fame after defeating the Elite Four, so turn around and go back to Castelia City. Check all the piers to find any items you missed, including Destiny Knot.
Finally, head back to the Center to heal up and attempt to challenge the Gym.
Head to the gym which is across the street from the Medal Office, but you will find that the Gym Guide is blocking the entrance. Talk to him to hear that Burgh - the Gym Leader - is out saying that something is up. Iris - one of the former Gym Leaders of Opelucid City - comes up to find out you are looking for Team Plasma, who is shocked because she knows that they disbanded two years ago (in the events of Black & White). She figures out where Team Plasma may be hiding without giving a location. The guide tells you she bolted toward the Pokemon Center - head that way.
Go a little past the Center to find Iris hurrying you up, she'll leave eastward, follow her all the way to the eastern pier.
You'll be placed in auto-mode once you enter the pier. Hugh will come up and ask if you found Team Plasma. It doesn't matter your answer, Hugh will run off toward the sewers. Follow him.
Castelia Sewers
Wild Pokemon: Grimer, Rattata, Zubat
Trainers Pokemon: Janitor (Lillipup LV16, Trubbish LV16), Worker (Drilbur LV17), Doctor^ (Sewaddle LV17), Scientist (Grimer LV17), Worker (Timburr LV17). Team Plasma Grunts (Double Battle - Scraggy LV16, Sandile LV16)
Items: X Sp. Def (A/F), Leftovers, Potion/Super Potion/Revive#, Pearl (A/F), TwistedSpoon, HM04 (Strength), Heart Scale (SP/SU), Rare Bone (SP/SU), X Special (SP/SU)
^ - will heal Pokemon to full strength if you defeat the Doctor in a Pokemon Battle
# - item given will be at random each day
Go down the stairs and talk to Hugh. Team up with him to find Team Plasma. While you are with him, all wild Pokemon Battles will be double battles, fighting alongside your Rival and his now-evolved starter. On top of that, he will also heal your Pokemon after every battle. Any trainer you come across though you will fight alone until you reach Team Plasma. Take advantage of the automatic healing that Hugh will give your Pokemon and train for a while without fear or wasting time of going back to the Center and explore the sewers and pick up all the items and battle all the trainers along the way.
Note that there are certain items you can only find in certain seasons - due to the fact that the way you travel through the sewers is different between the seasons (Spring and Summer with the water rising is different than Fall and Autumn with the water gone).
Once you are through, make your way close to the entrance and cross the bridge to the other side - or down the stairs and back up on the other side, dependent on the season you are currently on. Follow the path until you find Team Plasma, pick up the TwistedSpoon along the way. Go up to Team Plasma to intimate a double battle. You and Hugh defeat them and they will run off. Hugh wants to go further inside because he believes there is more but is cutoff by Burgh who you both meet for the first time. Burgh says there are no further Team Plasma members to fight off. Hugh thanks you for helping and hands over HM04 (Strength) then walks off. A Blonde-hair scientist then comes out and compliments you on your battling style and also walks off without saying his name. Burgh is confused by this but brushes it off. Burgh then gives you your options (train or challenge him) and walks off, you can do just that but I will continue by going back to Castelia City and challenging Burgh. (From here on out, all wild Pokemon Battles are traditional 1-on-1 battles)
Castelia City
Iris will stop you upon exiting the sewers and asks if everything is ok. She then suggest to challenge Burgh. Go to the Center, heal up, then head to the Gym. The Guide is no longer blocking the Gym.
Castelia Gym
Trainers Pokemon: Harlequin (Sewaddle LV20 x2), Harlequin (Combee LV20, Swadloon LV20), Harlequin (Sewaddle LV19, Combee LV19, Dwebble LV19), Harlequin (Dwebble LV20, Swadloon LV20)
Items: Fresh Water, TM76 (Struggle Bug)
Talk to the Guide to be handed your normal Fresh Water as he has done the previous two times. Another interesting Gym Music remix when you first enter the Gym. The gym is designed where you have to battle the first three Harlequins before you can reach Burgh. You can skip the fourth one after going up a web after your third battle by taking the door beside the one you came out of and then taking the door beside the one you came out from dodging the Harlequin. Although like I need to do, I battled them all so I can complete this walkthrough.
You know you've made it to Burgh when you reach a very colorful room with Burgh waiting for you in-front of a painting that has the Unova Gym Logo on it. Challenge him and his Buggy Army to a Gym Battle.
GYM LEADER BATTLE: BURGH
Swadloon - Level 22
Dwebble - Level 22
Leavanny - Level 24
Prize Money: 2880
Swadloon is his leadoff, nothing special to note but take it out with Fire/Flying-type moves as both Bug and Grass-type Pokemon are 4x weak to those attacks. Dwebble is a combo Rock/Bug-type, making most moves one type is weak against having a counter type it is strong against. It is basically a counter Pokemon to the Fire and Flying attacks Burgh expects due to its Rock typing. The two types that are excluded in this is Water and Steel-type attacks, making Magnemite useful here as well. It should have learned Magnet Bomb by now, so use it to the fullest extent. If you started with Oshawott, Water-type moves are useful here. Leavanny is his ace (as he calls it), use the same tactics you used to defeat Swadloon. It has a strong Razor Leaf attack, so watch out for it.
Defeating Burgh will earn you the Insect Badge. With it, all Pokemon up to Level 40 will obey you. You will also be given TM76 (Struggle Bug). Exit the gym.
Castelia City
Items: Dowsing Machine
Heal up at the Center from your Gym Battle and attempt to head to Route 4. At the Central Plaza, you'll find the Blonde-hair guy you and Burgh ran into at the Sewers. He will come up to you and ask if he can look at your Pokemon. Answer yes to have him see your leadoff Pokemon (whichever one it was at the time). He will finally reveal his name is Colress. He will want to have a battle with you, answer yes that you do and that he will be waiting at the entrance of Route 4. Head that way.
Attempt to go through the gate to be stopped by Bianca from behind. She will hand you a Dowsing Machine. Now we can search for items that are hidden from view. Continue north to Route 4.

BLACKTrainers Pokemon: Policeman (Herdier LV22), Roughneck (Darumaka LV22), Roughneck (Venipede LV21, Sandile LV21), Youngster (Pidove LV22), Hooligans (Double Battle - Cottonee LV21, Petilil LV21), Biker (Zubat LV21, Timburr LV21), Policeman (Riolu LV21, Growlithe LV21), Policeman (Growlithe LV16, Herdier LV16)
Battle the Breeder - who will battle you every time you are in Route 4, then find Colress ahead along the path who is infront of the wall blocking your path who you find out are the Pokemon Crustle. Colress activates a device that allows the Crustle to wake up and leave, allowing you to proceed further into Route 4. Before you can though, Colress asks for your name and then proceed into a Pokemon Battle. COLRESS BATTLE 1: Magnemite - Level 21 Klink - Level 23 Prize Money: 2300 Both of his Pokemon are Steel-types, so Fire and Fighting Type moves work well here. Ground-type moves will also prove useful. This is not that hard of a battle if you have those types on hand. Colress will leave after you defeat him. Take the paved road to the left and go to the house next to the Vending Machine. You can heal your Pokemon in there. If you choose, you can go back to the main path, skipping all the trainers and advance to Join Avenue to the north, but you can go and challenge all the trainers on Route 4 to improve your Pokemon's level and come back to that house as often as you like to heal them back up instead of going back to Castelia City. There are other places to explore along Route 4. Along the main path coming from Castelia City, enter the first building on the right. Talk to the girl on the main floor and show her a Pokemon that has the Speed Value that she is looking for (or better). If you manage to have one in your party, she will hand you 5 Health Wings. You can visit her every day and she will do the same thing. Enter the next building on the right and a lady will want to trad a Cottonee for your Petilil. If you have one, go on ahead and trade it if you want. Her Cottonee will gain 50% more experience than normal in battle when you use it. Go to the second floor and find a Wide Lens next to the TV. Exit the building. Enter the one building on the left you can enter and head to the second floor. Talk to the man upstairs and he'll hand you some Sitrus Berries (3 of them). Now enter the third building on the right and find a lady that will mimic one of your Pokemon currently in your party. If you recognize it correctly, she will hand you a Poke Toy - allowing you to flee from battle once with it. Now go through the variety of Pokemon Trainers and hang a right of the Hooligans. On Thursdays, a Mandibuzz will be available to capture. If you defeat it, never fear; it'll come back again next Thursday with another chance to catch it. When you are done, instead of heading to Join Avenue, go northwest to the Desert Resort. Get there the same way you healed your Pokemon earlier but this time skip the house and underneath the overpass. |
WHITETrainers Pokemon: Backpacker (2 Pokemon), Pokefan (2 Pokemon), Backpacker (2 Pokemon), Pokefan (1 Pokemon), Twins (Double Battle - 2 Pokemon), Rich Boy (1 Pokemon), Lady (1 Pokemon), Backpacker (2 Pokemon) (*Note - I have not played through White Version to know what Pokemon they are using)
When you first enter Route 4, you'll notice a Sandstorm brewing. This will happen at all times when on Route 4. What this also means is that for each Pokemon Battle that takes place on Route 4, the Sandstorm will be treated as a Weather Condition on the battle field and that all Pokemon that are not Rock, Ground or Steel types will take 1/16 HP damage each turn. COLRESS BATTLE 1: Magnemite - Level 21 Klink - Level 23 Prize Money: 2300 Both of his Pokemon are Steel-types, so they will be immune to damage from the Sandstorm Weather that is occurring during your battle. You will be at a small disadvantage because of this. Use Fire and Fighting-type moves to dispatch him because of their Steel-typing as they are both weak to it. This will only be a hard battle if you do not have those types. Colress will leave after you defeat him. You can find a way to skip the other Trainer Battles and advance to Join Avenue to the northeast, but go on ahead and explore the Rest of Route 4. Hang a right and enter the first building you can enter to the east. A guy wants you to show him a Pokemon that has the Attack Value that he is looking for (or better). If you have such a Pokemon, he will hand you 5 Swift Wings. You can visit him every day and he will do the same thing. Enter the building next to it. A lady inside will trade her Petilil for your Cottonee. Her Petilil will gain 50% more experience than normal in battle when you use it if you decide to trade. Exit the building. Go to the furthest building on the right and there is a lady that will heal your Pokemon. You can go back to it instead of running all the way back to Castelia City's Center. Now go behind the building you skipped (the building between the trader and the lady that healed your Pokemon). On Mondays, a Braviary will be available to capture. If you defeat it before you can capture it, don't worry; it'll come back next Monday with another chance at capturing it. After you are done exploring the place and battling all the trainers, instead of going to Join Avenue, head northwest to the Desert Resort. |

(#) - N's Pokemon have a unique way of showing up in the wild and you will notice it when they do. The OT will not be under your name when you catch them, but it will show "N". The ID number will also be different. There is even a Darmanitan out there at Level 35!
In Black 2 Version, you'll notice a Sandstorm that will start to brew. While in the Desert Resort, the Sandstorm will affect the Pokemon Battles. All Pokemon that are not Rock, Ground, or Steel-types will take 1/16 HP Damage each turn. In White 2, the Sandstorm from Route 4 will also affect the Desert Resort area.
Go through the gate and battle the Nurse. The Nurse will heal your Pokemon after the battle and will heal your Pokemon each time thereafter, so if you get hurt while in the Desert Resort go back to the Nurse and she will fix your Pokemon right back up.
Bring out the Dowsing Machine, there are a bunch of hidden items along the Desert Resort.
Traverse the entire area picking up the loot and battling all the Trainers along the way. Use the Dowsing Machine to pick up the hidden items along the route. Eventually head to the Northeast corner of the Resort to find the entrance to the Relic Castle. Go inside.
Relic Castle
Wild Pokemon: Sandile, Sandshrew, Yamask
Trainers Pokemon: Psychic (Sigilyph LV23), Psychic (Gothita LV23), Psychic (Solosis LV23)
Items: TM39 (Rock Tomb), Heart Scale
The Relic Castle is not like it once was in Black and White Versions. It is much smaller than it was two years ago because the sand has gradually filled it up. WALK to the stairs - don't run or you will run into the quick-sand trap. Battle the Psychic and continue down until you reach the plain-sight item TM39 (Rock Tomb), then battle the Psychic if you did not do so before obtaining the item. Go back upstairs and go through the quicksand. Use your Dowsing Maching to find a Heart Scale. Battle the Psychic then leave the Castle. Once you are finished exploring the Resort, leave the Resort back to Route 4. On Route 4, go to the northeast exit and enter Join Avenue.
Join Avenue
Walk forward a few steps to have a man surrounded by ladies (and a man I'll later figure out) stop you and see that he has a problem. He has no one to entrust Join Avenue and would like for you to manage it. Answer yes to his offer. Make a phrase up - that the whole world will literally hear - to introduce yourself with and then make up a word to say when you are "impressed." When I say the whole world will literally hear - I mean this will be sent over Wi-Fi which I will explain later. He'll like the two words you came up with and then realize he is fixing to miss an appointment. He'll leave but not before handing you two of his four assistants to help you manage the Avenue (the two blue-haired ones). They will ask you how you want to be called. You can enter your name or a nickname.
Talk to the lady (on the right) and she will explain how the system works. A visitor will enter Join Avenue, stop him and "Invite" him to build a shop in the Avenue. The visitor will do so and be the first shop to set up (I got a Fitness Shop so I will go with that). Talk to the lady again to have another visitor enter the Avenue, but this time "Recommend" the person to visit the shop you just set up. You will notice that the visitor will like the shop and have its popularity raised by a certain number of points along with the Avenue as a whole a certain number of points.
The assistants will tell you that the C-Gear is a way to get more visitors to your Avenue, but it is not required as there will always be visitors everyday coming to your Avenue. Your assistants will finally enter what is now your office to the left. You can now check out the shop that was set up and see what it has to offer. I will create a seperate section later for Join Avenue but feel free to check the place out. When you are done with Join Avenue, exit north to Nimbasa City....(to Part 4)
