Changes/Notables from Pokemon Black & White Versions
- Pokemon Black 2 & White 2 takes place two years from the events of Pokemon Black and White Versions.
- There are 5 new cities and towns.
- One of the new towns (Aspertia City) is the new starting point for Black 2 & White 2 (Black & White was in Nuvema Town)
- This is the first two versions in the history of the games where the first Gym is located in the player's hometown. A Pokemon Center & Mart is available in the player's hometown for the first time as well. There are several other buildings as well.
- Instead of having 5 Poke Balls to start your journey, you now receive 10.
- This is the first time in the games that the player's hometown is in a city.
- The Gym Leader order has changed from Black & White.
- Three new Gym Leaders have been added while other Gym Leaders have been replaced or retired.
- Three Gyms have retired their locations and have been moved to new locations (thus the three new Gym Leaders)
- Several existing cities and towns have received changes.
- Many new roads and places now exist in Unova.
- Unova's "Kami Trio" Legendary Pokemon are absent from the game.
- Drayden will be the Opelucid Gym Leader in both versions of the game. Previously he was only the Gym Leader in Pokemon Black, Iris was the Gym Leader in Pokemon White.
- Iris is the new Champion of the Elite Four. She becomes the second ex-Gym Leader to become a Champion (Wallace is the other from Hoenn) - notable is that the Elite Four has NOT changed outside of the Champion and are the same 4 as in Black & White.
- The Unova Pokedex has been expanded greatly to add older Pokemon to be caught pre-Elite Four.
- Route 4 is completely different and also differs from Black 2 & White 2. One version shows its construction completed (Black 2) while the other shows the construction on the Route has been abandoned (White 2).
- Challenger's Cave's entrance collapsed on Route 10 due to a landslide on Victory Road. It is no longer accessible.
- Because of the landslide, the old Victory Road and Route 10 is inaccessible in Black 2 & White 2. A new Victory Road has been formed and is drastically different from Black & White and also differs in appearance in Black 2 & White 2. This will be the first time that on Victory Road that grassy areas are available.
- The Cold Storage no longer exists and in its place is now the Pokemon World Tournament.
- Marlon, the Gym Leader in Seigaiha City, will have the highest level Pokemon to be faced in the player's first battle with a Gym Leader since Yellow Version with Giovanni at Level 55.
- Team Plasma has been reformed and is led by Ghetsis.
- Two of the Seven Sages that were not battled previously in Black & White are battled in Black 2 & White 2. The Shadow Triad are also battled for the first time.
- All legendary Pokemon from Hoenn and Sinnoh can be found after the main story arc (defeating the Elite Four). The only legendary Pokemon that cannot be found among them is the Weather trio and the Creation trio (the main legendary trios of the two regions)
- Like Diamond & Pearl Versions, there will be a similar requirement to have the Regional Unova Pokedex completed. This time in order to be able to access Nature Sanctuary.
- At Nature Sanctuary, there will be a in-game Shiny Pokemon available to capture (Haxorus). This marks the first in-game Shiny Pokemon to be available that is not a Red Gyarados. There is also two possible in-game Shiny Pokemon that can be obtained, but the second Pokemon is different.
New in Black 2 & White 2
- "Challenge Mode" and "Easy Mode" - Challenge Mode is the harder of the two modes as trainers are higher leveled throughout the game. Easy Mode is the easier of the two modes as trainers are lower leveled throughout the game. However this will not be unlocked until the game has been completed and the modes that are to be unlocked are different in each version.
- A new feature in this game is when a player uses Repel and runs out of 'Repel Steps', you are then asked (if one is available in your bag) if you would like to use another Repel. This is installed to prevent the user to have to enter the menu and find a Repel to use it again.
